The 2012 BMW 1 M Coupe will serve as one of the safety cars for the 2011 MotoGP championship, the world's premier motorcycling championship, which kicks off this weekend at the Grand Prix of Qatar. The 1 M Coupe has been spiced up a bit for the role. It features an Akrapovic exhaust, large rear wing, black wheels, black exhaust tips, vented hood, black grilles, and a front spoiler chin.

BMW also added BMW Motorsport's fabled tri-color paint scheme and of course the usual safety car's emergency lights and roof-mounted LED lightbar.
