First introduced as a show car at the 1979 New York Auto Show, the AR-1 has
now been modernized and made available for sale.
The updated AR-1 has maintained it's original sculptured style while introducing
a series of new features. In place of the original show car's Buick V6 is a
mid-mounted, supercharged a 6.2-liter Corvette V8 making up to 600 horsepower.
Not enough? Alessi also offers a twin-turbo version with 750 horsepower and 680
pounds of torque on tap.
This street legal machine can be pushed and pounded since it sports an
under-carriage of hydro-formed steel, with 11 gauge steel in key safety areas.
Alessi Fiberglass claims that the body is built as strong as the power train.
The suspension uses Corvette C5 components in both front and rear, while an air
suspension system allows adjustable height and spring rate.
The company's founder, Nick Alessi, started rebuilding cars when he was 12 years
old, raced as a semi pro at National Speedway in 1968 and 1969 and has been
designing and rebuilding cars ever since.
